There are a number of kitchens to be found in the mansion, as most people know. Enjolras is in one of them, flour speckling his flannel shirt and black jeans. There is a recipe book open on the counter near him, open to a page on baguettes. The young man in question is currently absorbed in kneading some dough: once again, something new to concentrate on. (Yes, he had known that Combeferre and Courfeyrac were only here for a day, but that does not really make it much better.) So, inspired by Laertes -- and, perhaps, the underwhelming boeuf bourguignon the mansion had provided the other day -- he is attempting a French classic. Perhaps a homemade baguette will taste better than mansion-provided food.

He pauses for a moment before bursting into absolutely delighted laughter. "Oh, well played."

He looks a little pleased with himself, but nods. “We wouldn’t have had the room anyway.”

"Perhaps so. It was cozy enough."

[untamedantinous]

“I suppose. I do not think Mère Hucheloupe favored us taking over her café, but—“ He shrugs.

[futaille]

"But it was recompense for being such loyal customers over the years, clearly."

[untamedantinous]

“Oh, certainly,” with a bit of a laughing look.

[futaille]

He grins. "Now, the fact that we frequently didn't pay is irrelevant."

[untamedantinous]

“Perhaps that was you,” a little chiding, but it’s teasing. “I paid.”

[futaille]

"Now, I paid when I could! But it was certainly not only me."

[untamedantinous]

"I'll allow that, but I know Feuilly and Combeferre and I always did."

[futaille]

"For which the rest of us were incredibly grateful. You built up the goodwill that made Père Hucheloup so accommodating to the rest of us."

[untamedantinous]

Enjolras may have covered Feuilly's tab a few times, but he will never tell. "Mm, well, someone had to if we were going to take up their entire back room."

[futaille]

"And their entire establishment, eventually!"

[untamedantinous]

“There is that small matter as well, yes.”

[futaille]

"Well, if Mère Hucheloup arrives here, I vow now to apologize wholeheartedly."

[untamedantinous]

"Ah, and so we should. She does deserve it."

[futaille]

He looks a bit amused. "Perhaps you could make bread for her."

[untamedantinous]

"I -- honestly, I am not certain what she would make of that."

[futaille]

"Oh, but it would be so interesting to find out."

[untamedantinous]

"It certainly would be." He shakes his head in amusement.

[futaille]

"Well, should she arrive, I'll remind you of this conversation. And should Père Hucheloup arrive, I'll beg him for the carp recipe."

[untamedantinous]

He laughs a little and shakes his head. "I'm sure Laertes would be delighted to have it, if he does."

[futaille]

"And I'd happily give it to him, because I certainly wouldn't be able to cook it."

[untamedantinous]

“He is quite a good cook, isn’t he,” he says fondly. “And a good teacher as well.”

[futaille]

"He is a good cook, if the pastries he's given the café are any indication. As for the teaching, I shall take you at your word."
