There are a number of kitchens to be found in the mansion, as most people know. Enjolras is in one of them, flour speckling his flannel shirt and black jeans. There is a recipe book open on the counter near him, open to a page on baguettes. The young man in question is currently absorbed in kneading some dough: once again, something new to concentrate on. (Yes, he had known that Combeferre and Courfeyrac were only here for a day, but that does not really make it much better.) So, inspired by Laertes -- and, perhaps, the underwhelming boeuf bourguignon the mansion had provided the other day -- he is attempting a French classic. Perhaps a homemade baguette will taste better than mansion-provided food.

"Ah, and so we should. She does deserve it."

He looks a bit amused. "Perhaps you could make bread for her."

[untamedantinous]

"I -- honestly, I am not certain what she would make of that."

[futaille]

"Oh, but it would be so interesting to find out."

[untamedantinous]

"It certainly would be." He shakes his head in amusement.

[futaille]

"Well, should she arrive, I'll remind you of this conversation. And should Père Hucheloup arrive, I'll beg him for the carp recipe."

He laughs a little and shakes his head. "I'm sure Laertes would be delighted to have it, if he does."

[futaille]

"And I'd happily give it to him, because I certainly wouldn't be able to cook it."

[untamedantinous]

“He is quite a good cook, isn’t he,” he says fondly. “And a good teacher as well.”

[futaille]

"He is a good cook, if the pastries he's given the café are any indication. As for the teaching, I shall take you at your word."

[untamedantinous]

“He is, he makes meals for myself and a few others quite often.” There’s a small smile. “As you should, if he has patience enough to show me things.”

[futaille]

"Showing you things isn't the accomplishment so much as inducing you to pay attention to what's being shown," he says, amused. "So he may deserve a medal."

[untamedantinous]

“I pay attention when food is involved. Some of the time.” There’s a wry grin.

[futaille]

And that wry grin is matched by another. "Liberté, égalité, soufflé."

[untamedantinous]

“I am not even going to dignify that with a groan. Really, Grantaire?”

[futaille]

"No, you're right. That was far from my usual standards. I beg your forgiveness."

[untamedantinous]

He’s doing his best to hide a smile. “You are forgiven.”

[futaille]

"And no penance, either. Your mercy is unmatched."

[untamedantinous]

He wrinkles his nose a little. “That’s assuming I remember any of the penances I had to do, which was…hm. Nearly ten years ago, I think?”

[futaille]

He laughs. "It was far from a complaint."

[untamedantinous]

“Good. I should not like to be a priest, save perhaps of the republic.”

[futaille]

"A prophet of the republic if anything, I assure you. Heralding the coming."

[untamedantinous]

He rolls his eyes a little. "Mm. Unfortunately, not yet."

[futaille]

"That's the way with prophets, unfortunately. At least you actually do know it happened."

[untamedantinous]

He sighs. "Yes, and at least Combeferre and Courfeyrac know as well, now."
