"Yes, but if your opponent is arguing in good faith, a compelling enough argument could sway them regardless, if you make a point that has not occurred to them despite their personal experiences. Because you also bring your own personal experiences to it and in arguing, you both have the opportunity to share the benefits of your own individual experiences."
