The past few days have been less than pleasant. Firstly, it seemed that winter had decided to take an extended stay here at the mansion: yes, he knew this place had odd seasons, but winter has never been one of his favorites, even at home. Enjolras has been uneasy, lately, spending most of his evenings holed up with Laertes and Sagramore in an effort to avoid nightmares.

Today, he is hoping that spending time with the one other person from Paris will do him good: and besides that, it has been some time since he has properly seen Grantaire. It would do to check in on him, he thinks. And so, he has gathered up books and his nearly ever-present notebook, intent on doing some writing as well. --As an afterthought, he grabs the unopened bottle of wine that Dionysus had given him, and proceeds to Grantaire's rooms, where he knocks at the door.

"Grantaire?"

He just gives Grantaire a wary look. "I will, however, be quite amused if a couch just happens to appear in your rooms without having traveled by wheels."

"That would be entertaining. And probably most deserved if it appeared just as I was opening the door with a couch that had traveled by wheels."

[untamedantinous]

"Indeed." He, at least, is amused with himself.

[futaille]

"But then I would have two couches, so I would, in fact, be extremely fortunate."

[untamedantinous]

"Would you even be able to fit two couches in here?"

[futaille]

"If I were determined enough, certainly."

[untamedantinous]

"I see." He's going to take the opportunity to sprawl out on the bed a little.

[futaille]

He smiles. "Comfortable enough?"

[untamedantinous]

“Yes. Are you?” It feels silly to be asking this of Grantaire in his own rooms; but he is a little uncertain of what to do here.

[futaille]

Grantaire doesn't laugh, but only just, and he sprawls out next to Enjolras. "Perfectly."

[untamedantinous]

“I am—“ He hesitates for a moment and sighs. “I’m sorry. I am —this feels awkward.”

[futaille]

He promptly sits back up. "No apologies needed. Would you like to take a walk? Not outside, of course, entirely too cold. Fencing or something?"

[untamedantinous]

“I don’t know. I am content to sit here; I just — do not know what to do.”

[futaille]

He flops back down, in that case. "Tell me about Rousseau, then."

[untamedantinous]

He laughs a little. “What is there that you have not already heard?”

[futaille]

"What does that matter? I assure you I'll be a rapt audience regardless."

[untamedantinous]

“Mm. You always are.”

[futaille]

"Makes your job much easier, then."

[untamedantinous]

“I do not know if ‘easier’ is the word for it.”

[futaille]

"What word would you use?"

[untamedantinous]

“Mm, frustrating, I think.” He’s very definitely teasing.

[futaille]

"I think that's just part and parcel of being in my general vicinity."

[untamedantinous]

“Perhaps it is, yes.” He stretches out a little and gives Grantaire a tentative look.

[futaille]

Grantaire is, for his point, quite comfortable. "Yes?"

[untamedantinous]

"Ah. Nothing."
